What affects the price of curtains in Kenya

Four things move the price. The fabric is the biggest driver: cotton and basic polyester sit at the bottom of the range, while linen, velvet and silk climb toward KES 8,000 per metre. The width and drop of your windows set how many metres you need, so a full-height living-room window costs more than a small bedroom one. Lining adds cost, and a blackout or thermal lining raises the per-metre figure. Finally, making and fitting, the tailoring and professional installation of tracks, poles and brackets, is part of a proper job and is included when we quote.

Curtains price by type

Sheers are the most affordable, from KES 1,000 to 5,000 per metre, and are usually layered under a heavier drape. Standard curtains in cotton or polyester blends run KES 1,500 to 2,700 per metre. Blackout curtains are priced by the chosen fabric plus a blackout lining, and suit bedrooms and media rooms. Premium fabrics (velvet, silk, heavy linen) are the top tier at KES 2,500 to 8,000 per metre. Blinds are priced by area instead of by metre: vertical blinds around KES 2,000 per square metre, roller blinds around KES 3,900 per square metre.

How to budget and get an accurate quote

To budget, measure the width of each window and decide on the fabric tier, then multiply by the per-metre range above, and add lining and fitting. That gives a rough figure, but curtains are made to your exact windows, so the only accurate number comes from a measured survey. We offer a free consultation and measurement across Nairobi, then give a fixed KES quote with no guesswork. For the full service, see our curtains and blinds page.
